TRINITY MUSICAL THEATRE SOCIETY

Founded in 2016 within Trinity College Dublin, the Trinity Musical Theatre Society has gone from strength to strength in recent years. With the principal aim of staging a large-scale annual musical production, TMT has reached its aim and smashed expectations each year. From West Side Story, Evita, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity, and now to Carrie the Musical, the Trinity Musical Theatre Society has been performing to sold-out audiences in the O’Reilly Theatre since day one. Fostering professionalism throughout the cast and production team, we give students the opportunity to hone their creativity and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Outside of our annual production, we strive to make the impact of musical theatre felt across campus. From guest speakers and patrons including Patti LuPone (Evita, Company), Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked), Colm Wilkinson (Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera), Cynthia Erivo (The Colour Purple) and Rachel Tucker (Wicked, Come From Away), collaborations with a wide array of societies, and participation in the annual All-Ireland Musical Theatre Intervarsities, TMT has made the presence of musical theatre felt across Trinity’s campus.

We were honoured to pick up the award for Best New Society at the 2018 Society of the Year Awards, as well as Best Choreography for Evita (Cisca Devereux & Katie Mirocha) at the 2018 Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) awards. In 2019, we were awarded Best Medium Society at the 2019 Society of the Year Awards, receiving nine nominations in total. In 2022, we were awarded “Best Event” for Guys and Dolls at the 2022 Society of the Year Awards.

With a buzzing and growing membership, the Trinity Musical Theatre Society is always excited to hear from prospective members. If you have any questions or queries, do not hesitate to get in contact with us via our contact form below.

Yours in Song and Dance,

TMT

Carrie The Musical

Trinity Musical Theatre was absolutely thrilled to present Carrie The Musical as our 2024 annual production. Hitting the stage of the O’Reilly Theatre from the 14th - 17th February and based on the psychic horror novel by Stephen King, Carrie The Musical debuted on Broadway in 1988. Our first show in TMT history to completely sell out on two separate nights, the production received coverage from BBC Sounds with Elaine Paige, RTE Lyric, and Dublin City FM, as well as garnering support from many college societies and marking another smash success for Trinity Musical Theatre.

This amateur production of CARRIE THE MUSICAL is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

Music by Michael Gore

Lyrics by Dean Pitchford

Book by Lawrence D. Cohen

Trinity Association and Trust

The TCD Association & Trust provides grant support for a wide variety of College projects where funding is not available from mainstream resources. Its committee, with administrative support from Trinity Development and Alumni, is made up of Trinity graduates who operate on a volunteer basis.

This year, the Association and Trust funded the rental of the O’Reilly Theatre, where our production of Sweet Charity was staged. Without this support, our show would not have been possible.

As such, we would like to extend a sincere expression of gratitude to the Association and Trust for their continued support of TMT.

Central Societies Committee

The Central Societies Committee (CSC) is the sole body on campus with the power to grant recognition to societies. As the governing body of societies, the CSC represents their interests in dealings with the College authorities.

This year, the CSC funded the licensing costs for our production of Sweet Charity. The CSC have always been very generous in their funding of our projects, and so we would like to thank them for their unwavering support of TMT.
